Night-time economy

An intervention designed to be used in areas where there is a significant night-time economy presence. The signage pushes the boundaries with its visuals, eliciting disgust to help the message get noticed.

Boundary-pushing signage is more attention-grabbing, so it is more effective at cutting through the additional noise of the night-time economy than regular signage.

About this campaign

The signage is specifically designed to be extra visible during the night-time using a unique and salient design, as well as bright neon pink to catch people's attention. It proved effective when trialled in areas with a high density of nightlife venues and eateries, and when implemented along with the recommendations in our Night-time economy handbook

73% reduction in gum littering, when trialled in Bristol
